Counselling and Psychotherapy

There are many reasons why somebody may seek counselling. You may have something specific which you would like to work on, or you may still be unsure as to what exactly is bringing you to counselling other than having a general sense of something not feeling quite right for you. Whatever has brought you to counselling I will meet you where you are and support you through your therapeutic journey.

I aim to offer my clients a calm, gentle and welcoming space where they feel safe to express themselves. Bringing difficult feelings to counselling can feel overwhelming and it can take time for you to feel comfortable doing this, there is no rush. We will work at a pace which suits you and I will listen in a non-judgemental, supportive, and respectful way.

As an Integrative therapist I have experience working with elements of different therapeutic models. The benefit of this is that I can blend techniques to find a way of working which is helpful to you.  I believe that our mind, bodies, and feelings are linked and will therefore work in a holistic way offering tools such as grounding and breathing techniques where I feel they may help. Sometimes clients find it helpful to work in the here and now, right down to the way in which we interact in the therapy session. Other times it is helpful to look back to past experiences to examine what affect they have had on us and how they might be impacting our life in the present. There may be opportunity for us to work creatively if you find working in a more abstract way helpful.

At the core of my practice is the belief that you are the expert on you even when you might not feel like it. Therefore, I will not tell you what to do but rather support you through your journey of self-exploration. By the time we end therapy it is my hope that you feel more able to face day to day life in a more confident and self-compassionate way.

During my time as a counsellor, I have worked with individuals experiencing various difficulties including Anxiety and Anxiety Related Issues, Depression, Self Esteem Issues, Suicidal Ideation and the aftermath of suicide.

I am an accredited member of the NCS (National Counselling Society) and a registered member of the BACP and work within the scope of their ethical framework.
